NEET

Enabling neurodiverse people with learning disabilities to live an inclusive & fulfilling quality of life

NEET Eats

NEET Eats is the culinary side of NEET, operating from two professional kitchens where team members develop practical cookery skills and gain confidence in a real working kitchen environment.

Guided by our experienced chef tutors, team members learn a wide range of techniques while working together to prepare delicious, nutritious meals.

We are proud of our “seed to table” approach. A wide variety of vegetables are grown in our on-site gardens and allotments, many of which are harvested and used in the dishes we create. Through this hands-on experience, NEET Eats promotes healthy living, teamwork, and the development of valuable life skills.

All sessions are tailored to meet the abilities, interests, and dietary requirements of our team. Activities are designed to build upon previously learned skills, ensuring that team members continue to grow in confidence and capability.

Throughout the year, the NEET Eats team takes part in a variety of food festivals and culinary events, which are often a highlight for everyone involved.

We have delivered cookery demonstrations at the Great Yorkshire Show and participated in food festivals in York and Ilkley, proudly showcasing the skills and achievements of our team members.

“It’s fantastic to share my knowledge and watch the team’s confidence grow as they experiment with new skills; suggest dishes they’d like to try and bring their own ideas to the table “

– Chris Chef Tutor –

In recent years, we were delighted to contribute to Meet Our Mothers, an interactive cookbook featuring 41 treasured family recipes and stories from across the Bradford District.

Team members April and Wayne, alongside Chef Tutor Richard, had recipes featured in the book. The photography for the book was also captured on site at NEET.
