NEET

Enabling neurodiverse people with learning disabilities to live an inclusive & fulfilling quality of life

NEET Makes

NEET Makes brings together the enterprising, creative, and practical work our team members produce on site.

This includes creative arts, woodworking, construction, and other hands-on projects. Our facilities include a fully equipped woodwork cabin, a log-splitting shed, and a dedicated space for creative arts.

Team members can choose from a range of sessions, from crafting, creative arts and mixed media to construction, building, and site maintenance.

The green pod

Our hub for creative activities. Fitted with a log burner, it is especially welcoming during autumn and winter. Inspired by nature, growing, and the changing seasons, team members explore a wide range of creative arts and crafts.

We are also fortunate to work with local artists, who support some of our sessions as creative sessional tutors. They work alongside our team members to introduce new techniques.

Our work has also been displayed in a fantastic exhibition at South Square Gallery in Thornton, Bradford.

A quote from the In Full Colour exhibition described the work as “art that is beautiful and honest, celebrating the beauty of making for the sheer joy of it.”

NEET Makes also includes larger-scale construction and woodwork projects. Team members take on a wide range of work, from wood carving to constructing full buildings.

On site, our team is involved in every stage of the process, from design and planning through to the final build. Our experienced staff share their knowledge and provide support throughout each session.

In the woodwork cabin, team members build planters, birdhouses, bat boxes, and even small pieces of furniture. They gain hands-on experience in a range of joinery skills while creating practical items for use on site and in the wider community.

Everything you see on site today has been built, either in part or entirely, by our team members. These works include the construction of log cabins, a pavilion, decking, a compost area, support with the installation of solar panels, and the creation of a courtyard with a pergola.

As part of the Bradford 2025 Year of Culture festival and the ‘Our Patch’ programme, our team created a permanent arts trail in Northcliffe Woods. They designed, built and installed a giant sound horn, willow arch and tree gazing net for everyone to enjoy.
